History - the long view
The company was founded in 1995. From the start, the company grew rapidly, and subsequent international expansion culminated in the group's listing on the JSE on 29 April 1999 as Paracon Holdings Limited.
Since listing Paracon has grown from strength to strength, acquiring a number of businesses ranging from business solutions providers to resourcing specialists. In 2000 the acquisition of IT contracting business Dimension Data Silverline, saw Dimension Data acquire a 25% stake in the group.
Paracon BEE platform conforms with the Charter requirements of 26.81% BEE ownership. The group originally established a BEE profile with the launch of empowerment company WDB Technologies (WDBT) through a joint venture with WDB Investment Holdings in 2001. With increasing emphasis on BEE as an operational and business imperative, the purchase by WDB Investment Holdings of a direct shareholding at group level was a natural progression. Black-owned WDB Investment Holdings now holds a 28,6% stake in Paracon
To illustrate the seriousness of our intent, Paracon has consistently ranked in the top 20 overall on the JSE in the annual EmpowerDex/Financial Mail BEE survey, as well as in the top 5 in the ICT sector. In the last few years a number of strategic acquisitions have seen the group further boost its resourcing, networking and ICT solutions skills.
Paracon is now the largest player in its field and long-term prospects look very good.
